Dr. Mary Marovich on NPR with Kojo Nnamdi

written by Marsha Seidelman, M.D.
on Tuesday, 26th August ,2014

Our colleague and fellow bootcamper Dr. Mary Marovich, was interviewed on Monday August 25, 2014 on NPR by Kojo Nnamdi about the future of medical trials. Did you know that only 3% of people who are invited to enroll in studies for medications or vaccines actually agree to participate? Did you ever wonder what people are told prior to signing consent? Or their concerns about trying an AIDS vaccine that is being studied? How about how social networking affects participation in trials?  For these discussions and more, listen to the broadcast.

Mary is the Director of the AIDS Vaccine Research Program at the National Institute of Allergy and Infections Diseases (NIAID), NIH. AND a regular participant in Lady Docs bootcamp. Fellow panelists are Dr. Michael Carducci, Professor of Prostate Cancer Research and Professor of Oncology at Johns Hopkins University Kimmel Cancer Center and Dr. Arthur Caplan, Director of Medical Ethics Division at NYU's Langone Medical Center.
