Marsha Seidelman, M.D.

Marsha Seidelman, M.D.

Marsha was raised in the Bronx and Queens, then went upstate to SUNY Albany where she graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a double major in math and economics. Somewhat disenchanted with the ever-lengthening but no-more-accurate equations in economics, by her junior year, she decided that what she really wanted to do was to go into medicine.

So, she spent 9 rewarding years in the Bronx, completing medical school, an internal medicine residency and a pulmonary fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Jacobi Hospital and Montefiore Hospital, respectively.  Looking to leave New York for at least a slightly warmer climate, she moved to Maryland with her husband and started in private practice. Twenty eight years and two grown children later, here she is. She has been named a Washingtonian Top Doc

Her interest in fitness was sparked by 9/11, when all of the amazing rescue stories made her realize how important it was to be self-reliant. Would she be able to lift her children and run with them if necessary? Would she be able to get out of a burning building? This started her quest toward improved fitness, strength and agility. As an extension of that, she became interested in healthful cooking. She realized that many of her patients were interested in the same goals, but were overwhelmed with the conflicting data in the press. To clarify some of these issues, she took a graduate level course at University of Maryland in exercise physiology, and has since continued to read extensively on exercise and nutrition. She freely admits -- there's a tremendous quantity of conflicting data. She hopes to use this website to help you make some sense of it all!

Besides practicing internal medicine and pulmonary medicine in Silver Spring, MD, exercising and experimenting with new recipes, she volunteers in community projects, including organizing Lady Docs' community outreach programs, and enjoys spending time with friends and family.  And she is trying to find more time to sleep -- as you know, that's very important for good health!

She is looking forward to meeting and chatting with you at the Lady Docs Corner Cafe!
