To Take or Not to Take: Supplements?
written by Linda Yau, M.D., F.A.C.P.
on Tuesday, 28th May, 2013
"So tell me what kind of medicines you are taking?" I looked at my
patient across the desk while she pulled out a long list.
"Vitamin E, Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, multivitamin, Zinc, Acai Berry,
Coenzyme Q10, fish oil, Selenium, flaxseed, calcium, ginseng,
rhubarb..." She proceeded to pull up multiple bottles that soon filled
the desk.
"Do you smoke?" I asked as I wrote down ...

Are You Ready for a Change?
written by Thu Tran, MD,FACOG
on Monday, 27th May, 2013
We women are interesting. I know this for a fact because I have been
an obstetrician/gynecologist for almost 22 years. I have seen
thousands of women from all age groups and delivered thousands of
babies. I have seen teenagers struggling with acne and sexuality,
elderly women struggling with mobility and illnesses, and middle age
and perimenopausal women struggling with...well, ...

Have a cake and eat part of it too
written by Thu Tran, MD,FACOG

Several weeks ago after Easter, I came back to the office and found
all these plates of sausages, salami, deviled eggs, rolls on our

Cilantro Lime Garlic Chicken and Mango Kebabs
written by Marsha Seidelman, M.D.
on Monday, 27th May, 2013

Memorial Day. The weather didn't exactly cooperate, so I cooked it
under the broiler. They knew I was experimenting on them, but all
called this a winner of a recipe. I served it with a spinach and
strawberry salad that was contributed by one of our bootcamp
participants last year. I also intended to serve ...

Let's talk about calorie myths

Let's talk about calorie myths
Welcome to my first entry on our website.
Where to begin?? I thought I'd start by presenting some misunderstood
ideas about calories as they relate to exercise and weight loss. The
National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded a review of these
unsupported beliefs. The results were reported in the New England
Journal of Medicine in January, 2013. ...

For inner focus
written by Thu Tran, MD,FACOG
on Saturday, 18th May, 2013
More than twenty years ago I was living in Baltimore during my OBGYN
residency. My mother and I and my three dogs lived in a little
bungalow with two bedrooms and one bath in Towson. We had a front yard
just big enough for us to plant a few bushes of Azaleas and different
kind of Lilies, and a tiny backyard. In the summer, our hanging
baskets on the front porch were overflowing ...
